Nick Plante
Nick Plante is General Partner at dlab.
I'm a software developer, researcher, and investor. I like building stuff that people use and supporting others who do the same.
I'm currently co-founder, Director and Partner at dlab, a startup program and venture studio by SOSV exploring topics in web3 and blockchain technology. We invest in and support amazing early stage companies who are building a more transparent, accessible, and decentralized world. Before that I was a co-founder at Wefunder (equity crowdfunding) and Mogoterra (software testing).
I've also worked in CTO and director-level roles at various other startups, and spent several years running a boutique software consultancy working with all sorts of businesses from small product startups to Fortune 500 companies. I started my career in academia at MIT and Northeastern in research and applications of artificial intelligence to network security.
I'm proud to be a prolific open source contributor, published author, and a founder, partner and developer in several ongoing projects including BankLocal, Docmeta (rubydoc.info) and the Rumble hackathon series. My interests include human-computer interaction, machine learning, blockchain technology and the democratization of finance (involved in Bitcoin since 2011), and urban and local sustainability. In my free time, I enjoy traveling. And reading. And running. And happy hour.
