An entrepreneur turned venture capitalist, Arul Murugan focuses on investing and building category-leading businesses that scales quickly and endure even the most challenging market conditions. His 12 years as Founder, CEO and Chairman of Enrich, an Oracle-based SaaS procurement solution, were critical in forming his philosophy to growth. Enrich grown to $10M within first 4 years and subsequently was able to grow between 30 and 40 percent each year between 2008 and 2012–the height of the economic recession–in part because of Murugan’s focus on nurturing ecosystems and building a category leader. He then acquired a UK based company and ultimately grew Enrich to about 500 employee organization across North America, Europe, Asia and exited the business to large private equity with an IRR of 288%.
He brought that philosophy from Enrich to his portfolio of 30+ companies in 11-11 Ventures and now Borderless Capital, where he is investing in category-leading companies that have proven business model, scalable revenue and a clear path towards profitability.
Arul was recognized as “Entrepreneur of the Year” by E&Y, B2B magazine and FETNA. Under Arul’s leadership, Enrich was recognized as Inc. 500/5000 company five years consecutively (Top 5 in IT), Deloitte Technology Fast 50 company, and a pacesetter company from Atlanta Business Chronicle.
Arul’s key strengths are business model innovation, economics and Venture investments with a strong finance acumen. He started investing when he was 21 years old and enjoys managing most of his net worth assets by himself. Now he is focused in Borderless Capital building the next generation of blockchain companies powering the borderless economy.
Arul lives in Atlanta with his lovely wife Kavitha Palani (co-founder of Enrich and 11-11 Ventures, Founder of AK Foundation) and two wonderful kids. He loves skiing, mountain biking, meditation and water sports.
