Alberto Sonnino

I am a Ph.D student in Security Engineering at University College London (UCL) under the supervision of Prof. George Danezis and Prof. Jens Groth. I was a co-founder and researcher at chainspace.io, which builds a scalable smart contract platform; I am now a Research Scientist at the Blockchain team of Facebook based in London. I hold a master degree in Electrical Engineering from the Catholic University of Louvain (UCLouvain), a master degree in Elektrotechnik und Informationstechnik from the Karlsruhe Institute of Technologies (KIT), and a third master degree in Information Security from University College London (UCL). My research interests are in privacy enhancing technologies, distributed ledgers, and cryptography. I have a special interest in trusted hardware and FPGA-based security applications. In the past, I worked on numerical calculations and simulations for physics-related problems (plasma physics, category theory, symmetry groups).
